C35000 High Leaded Brass — FAQ

Practical FAQ on C35000 leaded brass composition, ASTM specs, properties and sourcing for machined parts and fittings.

C35000 is a wrought leaded brass (copper-zinc-lead alloy) with Cu 60.0–63.0%, Zn balance, Pb 0.8–2.0%, and Fe ≤0.15%. The lead phase gives it excellent machinability, which is the main reason to select this grade for screw-machine work.
ASTM B135 covers C35000 tube, rod and shapes; it is also supplied as drawn rod and wire. Temper controls the properties — O60 (soft annealed) gives the highest elongation, while H01–H06 cold-worked tempers raise strength and hardness.
Depending on temper, ultimate tensile strength runs roughly 340–650 MPa, yield 150–420 MPa, and elongation 3–52% (soft tempers at the high end). Electrical conductivity is about 26% IACS and density ~8.5 g/cm³. Machinability rates around 100 (C36000 = 100).
No. C35000 contains 0.8–2.0% lead, so it is restricted under RoHS and is not approved for potable-water contact (NSF/ANSI 61). It is used for machined components, fittings, gears, valve parts and other non-water hardware where leaded machinability matters.
Linsy supplies C35000 rod, wire and tube to ASTM with customized diameters, tempers and lengths. Every order ships with an MTR/MTC, SGS reports on request, and RoHS/REACH support. Typical lead time is 10–60 days with low MOQ and a 1-hour quoting response.
