Product Overview

C70600 copper-nickel is a copper-nickel alloy containing approximately 90% copper and 10% nickel with controlled iron and manganese additions for enhanced seawater corrosion resistance. It is manufactured to ASTM B111, ASTM B122, ASTM B151, and related standards for demanding marine and industrial applications.

Produced through extrusion, rolling, drawing, and welding processes, C70600 offers excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, erosion corrosion, and marine biofouling. Its combination of corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, and mechanical strength makes it one of the most widely used copper-nickel alloys worldwide.

C70600 copper nickel is extensively used in seawater piping systems, condensers, heat exchangers, desalination plants, offshore platforms, and shipbuilding applications where long-term reliability and corrosion resistance are critical.

FAQ — C70600 Copper Nickel

Common engineering questions on C70600 copper nickel: composition, standards, properties and supply.

C70600, known as 90/10 cupronickel (CuNi10Fe1Mn), contains about 10% nickel with controlled iron (1.0–1.8%) and manganese. It is the standard marine-grade alloy for seawater piping and heat exchangers.
C70600 is covered by ASTM B111 (seamless condenser tube), B466 (seamless pipe), B122 (plate/sheet), B171 (pressure-vessel plate) and B432 (clad plate). Tube is typically supplied annealed (O61) or light-drawn (H55).
Annealed C70600 tube meets a minimum tensile strength of about 275 MPa with 105 MPa yield and 30%+ elongation; conductivity is about 9% IACS. Iron enables a protective surface film that resists seawater erosion and biofouling.
C70600 is the default for seawater cooling, ballast, firewater and desalination tubing where flow velocities are moderate. C71500 (70-30) is chosen for higher strength and faster, more aggressive seawater (up to about 4.5 m/s).
Linsy Copper supplies C70600 copper nickel against ASTM specs with per-order MTR/MTC, SGS on request, RoHS/REACH compliance, low-MOQ custom production and a 10–60 day lead time, with quote response within 1 hour.
