SPEC STANDARD
C68800 (EN CuZn23Al3Co) is a high-strength aluminum brass modified with cobalt, delivering 565–889 MPa tensile strength with good corrosion resistance. Used for electrical connectors, relay springs, and marine hardware, supplied to ASTM B592.

Product Overview

C68800 Aluminum Brass (EN CuZn23Al3Co) is a high-strength copper-zinc alloy modified with aluminum and cobalt, covered by ASTM B592 for plate, sheet, strip, and rolled bar. With tensile strength from about 540 MPa in the annealed condition up to 889 MPa in spring temper, it reaches strength close to many bronzes while keeping good corrosion resistance and moderate electrical conductivity (~18% IACS).

The alloy cold-forms exceptionally well, making it a common substitute for phosphor bronze (C51900/C52100) in electrical connectors, relay springs, switch contacts, and automotive terminals. It also serves marine and industrial hardware where dezincification resistance and wear resistance matter. Tempers run from annealed (O) through H02 and H04 to H10 spring, letting buyers tune strength against bendability.

Linsy Copper supplies C68800 aluminum brass strip, sheet, plate, and rolled bar to ASTM B592, with low-MOQ custom production for non-stock sizes and tempers (typical lead time 10–60 days). Every order ships with an MTR/MTC documenting grade, chemistry, and mechanical results, and optional SGS testing is available on request. In-house CNC machining, laser cutting, and surface finishing support downstream fabrication from raw stock to finished parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about C68800 aluminum brass specifications, tempers, comparison, and supply.

C68800 is used where high strength and good corrosion resistance are both needed: electrical connectors, relay and switch springs, automotive terminals, marine hardware, and aerospace bushings. Its cold formability lets it replace phosphor bronze in many stamped and spring contact parts.
The primary specification is ASTM B592, which covers C68800 plate, sheet, strip, and rolled bar. It is also supplied as connector strip under ASTM B888. Linsy Copper matches the applicable ASTM standard to the product form and customer drawings.
C68800 reaches higher tensile strength than typical phosphor bronze tempers and offers similar bendability, while keeping moderate conductivity. For many connector and spring applications it is a cost-effective substitute, though phosphor bronze remains preferable where fatigue life under very high cycles is critical.
Common tempers run from annealed (O, ~540 MPa tensile, ≥30% elongation) through H02 (~660–750 MPa) and H04 (~740–830 MPa) to H10 spring (~889 MPa, ~2% elongation). Choose a softer temper for deep drawing and a harder temper for maximum strength and springback.
With lead capped at 0.05%, C68800 meets RoHS limits for electronics use. Linsy Copper supplies it to ASTM B592 with low-MOQ custom sizes and tempers (typical lead time 10–60 days), an MTR/MTC per order, and optional SGS testing on request.
