Product Overview

C68700 aluminum brass is a copper-zinc alloy containing approximately 77% copper with controlled aluminum additions to enhance corrosion resistance and durability in aggressive marine environments. It is manufactured to ASTM B111 and related standards for heat transfer and seawater service applications.

Produced through extrusion, tube drawing, and annealing processes, C68700 brass offers excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, impingement attack, and biofouling. Its combination of thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, and long-term durability makes it one of the most widely used alloys for condenser and heat exchanger tubing.

C68700 aluminum brass is extensively used in power plant condensers, marine cooling systems, desalination facilities, offshore installations, and industrial heat exchangers where efficient heat transfer and corrosion resistance are critical.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about C68700 aluminum brass tube specifications, seawater performance, and applications.

C68700 is specified to ASTM B111 / ASME SB111 for seamless condenser and heat-exchanger tubes, with O61 (annealed) as the standard condenser temper. It is the wrought 'aluminum brass' grade, also known as CuZn20Al2, EN CW702R, or BS CZ110.
C68700 adds 1.8-2.5% aluminum plus arsenic inhibition, giving it very high resistance to impingement attack in high-velocity seawater (typically above about 2.5 m/s). C44300 is preferred for chemically aggressive, polluted, or low-velocity water. Selection depends on whether erosion or chemical dezincification is the limiting factor.
Annealed O61 C68700 has a minimum tensile strength of 345 MPa (50 ksi) and minimum yield strength of 125 MPa (18 ksi), with 25-45% elongation. Density is about 8.33 g/cm3 and electrical conductivity is roughly 23% IACS.
It is widely used for seawater, desalination, and industrial cooling water rather than as a potable-water grade. Like other brass, C68700 solders and brazes well, but fusion welding is limited; joint design should account for zinc and arsenic fuming.
Linsy produces C68700 aluminum brass to ASTM B111 as made-to-order tubes, bars, and plates with a standard lead time of 10-60 days based on size and quantity, and low MOQ for custom profiles. Each shipment includes an MTR / MTC, with SGS reports available on request; RoHS / REACH compliance statements and a quote (typically within 1 hour, with responses inside 24 hours) are provided on inquiry.
