C65800 silicon bronze, also known as high-silicon bronze B, is a high-strength copper-silicon-manganese alloy supplied as rod, bar, and shapes under ASTM B98. It combines excellent corrosion resistance with superior resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, making it ideal for marine hardware, fasteners, industrial valves, and non-sparking components.

Product Overview

C65800 silicon bronze, commonly referred to as high-silicon bronze B, is a copper-silicon-manganese alloy containing 2.8–3.8% silicon and 0.5–1.3% manganese. It is manufactured to ASTM B98 for rod, bar, and shapes requiring high strength, corrosion resistance, and reliable performance in marine and industrial environments.

Produced through controlled hot-working and cold-working, C65800 delivers tensile strength from 345 MPa in the annealed condition up to 650 MPa in hard tempers, with good ductility and fatigue resistance. Its silicon-manganese matrix provides excellent resistance to seawater, freshwater, and atmospheric corrosion, plus strong resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, while remaining non-magnetic and spark-resistant.

C65800 is widely used in marine shafts and bearings, industrial valves and pump components, fasteners, and electrical connector stock where strength and corrosion resistance matter. Linsy Copper supplies C65800 silicon bronze bar and rod to ASTM B98, with low-MOQ custom production (typical lead time 10–60 days), in-house CNC machining and surface finishing, an MTR/MTC for every order, and optional SGS testing on request. Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about C65800 silicon bronze specifications, applications, and ordering.

C65800 is a high-silicon bronze (Silicon Bronze B) specified under ASTM B98 for rod, bar, and shapes. Its blend of high strength (up to 650 MPa), seawater corrosion resistance, and stress-corrosion-cracking resistance makes it suitable for marine shafts and bearings, industrial valves and pump parts, fasteners, and non-sparking hardware.
Both are high-silicon bronzes, but C65800 limits iron to 0.25% max and adds an aluminum limit of 0.01% max, tuning it for higher-strength rod, bar, and fastener stock. C65500 (Silicon Bronze A) allows higher iron (up to 0.8%) and is the broader general-purpose silicon bronze. Choose C65800 when tighter iron control and hard-temper strength are required.
C65800 resists atmospheric, freshwater, and flowing seawater corrosion, and is notably resistant to stress-corrosion cracking. It is stable in mildly alkaline and many chloride environments but is not intended for strongly oxidizing acids. This suits marine and chemical-handling components.
C65800 welds well with gas-shielded arc processes (GMAW/GTAW) and brazes reliably; soldering and oxyacetylene welding are less suitable. It machines well in hard tempers and is readily hot- and cold-worked, with good fatigue and deformation resistance.
C65800 is supplied as round bar, rod, and extruded shapes per ASTM B98. Common diameters range from 3 mm to 250 mm with standard lengths up to 6 m; custom sizes and tempers are available on request with minimum order quantities.
