C61400 aluminum bronze is a wrought, high-ductility copper-aluminum alloy that resists seawater corrosion and stays tough from cryogenic to elevated temperature. Ideal for marine fasteners, condenser tube sheets, and pump parts.

Product Overview

C61400 is a wrought (rolled and forged) aluminum bronze whose balance comes from 6.0–8.0% aluminum and 1.5–3.5% iron in a copper matrix, with manganese capped at 1.0%. Compared with the nickel aluminum bronzes, C61400 is more ductile and can be cold-worked to raise strength, which is why it is a common choice for fasteners and formed marine parts. It is produced to ASTM B150 (rod, bar, shapes), ASTM B169 (sheet, strip, bar), ASTM B171 (plate, sheet), ASTM B315 (pipe), and ASTM B111 (condenser tube).

In the HR50 temper, C61400 rod and bar reach 485 MPa minimum tensile strength, 205 MPa yield, and 30% elongation; annealed stock typically runs 530–550 MPa tensile with 40% elongation and high impact toughness. It keeps its toughness down to cryogenic temperatures (about −269°C / −452°F), resists seawater and salt-spray corrosion, and is non-magnetic (permeability about 1.01) with 14% IACS conductivity. Gas-shielded arc welding is rated good, while oxyacetylene welding is not recommended; machinability rating is 20 (free-cutting brass = 100).

Linsy Copper supplies C61400 aluminum bronze as plate, sheet, rod, and bar with low-MOQ custom cutting and machining (typical lead time 10–60 days), in-house CNC machining and surface finishing, an MTR/MTC for every order, and optional SGS testing on request. C61400 is a wrought alloy (plate, sheet, rod, bar) with 6.0–8.0% aluminum and no nickel, giving higher ductility and cold-work hardenability than cast grades such as C95400. It is chosen where formability, fasteners, or cryogenic toughness matter; C95400 is picked for thick cast wear parts.
Yes. C61400 retains its toughness at very low temperature, down to about −269°C (−452°F), so it is used for cryogenic equipment and low-temperature structural parts where many alloys turn brittle.
Gas-shielded arc welding and coated-metal-arc welding are rated good. Oxyacetylene welding is not recommended because it can embrittle the alloy; preheat and post-weld stress relief are typically applied on heavy sections.
ASTM B150 covers rod, bar, and shapes; B169 sheet, strip, and bar; B171 plate and sheet; B315 pipe and tube; and B111 condenser tube. The mechanical values quoted here follow ASTM B150 rod/bar in the HR50 temper.
Linsy Copper supplies C61400 as plate, sheet, rod, and bar at low MOQ with a typical lead time of 10–60 days, ships an MTR/MTC with every order, and offers optional SGS testing on request.
