Product Overview

C52100 phosphor bronze is a copper-tin alloy containing approximately 8% tin with controlled phosphorus additions to improve strength, hardness, and fatigue life. As one of the highest-strength phosphor bronze alloys, it delivers superior wear resistance and spring performance compared with C51000 and C51900.

Produced through rolling, drawing, and precision heat treatment processes, C52100 bronze offers excellent elasticity, dimensional stability, and long-term mechanical reliability. Its combination of strength, corrosion resistance, and fatigue performance makes it suitable for demanding electrical and mechanical environments.

C52100 phosphor bronze is extensively used in heavy-duty springs, electrical connectors, switch contacts, relay components, diaphragms, and industrial wear parts where durability and reliability are critical. It is widely applied across electronics, aerospace, automotive, telecommunications, and industrial manufacturing industries.

Frequently Asked Questions — C52100 Phosphor Bronze

Practical FAQ for engineers and buyers specifying C52100 phosphor bronze (CuSn8 / PB8).

C52100 (CuSn8, ~8% tin phosphor bronze) contains about 7.0–9.0% tin with phosphorus 0.03–0.35% and copper as balance. It is covered by ASTM B103/B103M (plate, sheet, strip, rolled bar) and ASTM B139 (rod, bar). EN equivalent is CW453K (CuSn8). It is the highest-strength common wrought phosphor bronze.
Annealed (O) tensile strength is about 375–470 MPa with elongation 20+%; in spring temper (H08) it reaches 700–860 MPa with fatigue endurance around 270 MPa. Electrical conductivity is roughly 14–18% IACS and it is non-magnetic. Higher tin gives the best strength, hardness, and wear resistance of the phosphor bronzes.
Versus C51000 (5%) and C51900 (6%), C52100's 8% tin delivers the highest strength and wear resistance but the lowest formability and conductivity, and a higher minimum bend radius in spring tempers. Choose it for high-load or high-wear parts where formability is secondary.
High-load springs, wear strips, bushings and bearings, gears, thrust washers, and heavy-duty connector springs where strength and fatigue life dominate. It machines moderately (about 20% of free-cutting brass) and is not ideal for fine blanking of very tight radii.
Yes. We supply C52100 strip, sheet, rod, and bar to ASTM B103/B139 with MTR/MTC per order and SGS on request. Tempers from annealed to spring hard and custom sizes are available at low MOQ with 10–60 day lead times, plus in-house cutting, CNC, and finishing. Quote requests get a response within 1 business hour.
