Product Overview

C51100 phosphor bronze is a medium-tin copper alloy containing approximately 4% tin with controlled phosphorus additions to improve wear resistance, fatigue strength, and mechanical performance. It provides a balance between the conductivity of pure copper and the strength of higher-tin phosphor bronze alloys.

Produced through precision rolling, drawing, and heat treatment processes, C51100 bronze offers excellent elasticity, dimensional stability, and corrosion resistance. Compared with C51000, it provides similar conductivity while maintaining excellent spring properties and forming characteristics.

C51100 phosphor bronze is extensively used in electrical connectors, spring contacts, relay components, precision stampings, and industrial wear parts where durability and fatigue resistance are critical. It is widely applied across electronics, telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing industries.

Frequently Asked Questions — C51900 Phosphor Bronze

Practical FAQ for engineers and buyers specifying C51900 phosphor bronze (CuSn6 / PB6).

C51900 (CuSn6, ~6% tin phosphor bronze) contains about 5.5–7.0% tin with phosphorus 0.03–0.35% and copper as balance. It is covered by ASTM B103/B103M (plate, sheet, strip, rolled bar) and ASTM B139 (rod, bar). It is a wrought spring-grade alloy widely used for precision elastic parts.
Annealed (O) tensile strength is about 315–410 MPa with elongation 50+%; in half-hard it is 490–610 MPa and in spring temper (H08) 680–830 MPa with fatigue endurance around 250 MPa. Electrical conductivity is roughly 16–20% IACS and it is non-magnetic. Its high elastic limit and low elastic hysteresis earn it the label 'king of elastic materials.'
At 6% tin it sits between C51000 (5%) and C52100 (8%): stronger and more fatigue-resistant than C51000, easier to form and slightly more conductive than C52100. Pick C51900 when you need high spring performance without the forming difficulty of 8% tin grades.
Precision springs, connector and terminal springs, relay reeds, diaphragms, bellows, wear strips, bearings, bushings, and instrument elastic elements. It resists atmospheric, freshwater, and seawater corrosion and resists stress-corrosion cracking better than many copper alloys.
