Product Overview

C44300 Admiralty Brass is a copper-zinc alloy containing approximately 71% copper with a controlled tin addition to improve corrosion resistance in fresh water and mildly saline environments. It is manufactured to ASTM B111 and related standards for heat transfer and marine applications.

Produced through extrusion, drawing, and annealing processes, C44300 brass offers excellent thermal conductivity, reliable mechanical strength, and resistance to dezincification. Its superior heat transfer performance makes it a preferred material for condenser and heat exchanger tubing.

C44300 Admiralty Brass is extensively used in condenser tubes, heat exchangers, cooling water systems, marine condensers, and industrial process equipment where corrosion resistance and thermal efficiency are critical.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about C44300 admiralty brass tube specifications, corrosion resistance, and applications.

C44300 is produced to ASTM B111 / ASME SB111 for seamless condenser and heat-exchanger tubes, and ASTM B395 / ASME SB395 for U-bend configurations. These cover the straight-length and bent tube forms used in power, marine, and refinery cooling systems.
C44300 contains 0.02-0.06% arsenic plus 0.9-1.2% tin, which inhibit dezincification - the selective leaching of zinc that destroys uninhibited brass in water service. This is why it is mandatory for condenser and seawater-cooled heat-exchanger duty. (C44400 is the antimonial variant and C44500 the phosphorized variant of the same family.)
Per ASTM B111, annealed (O61) C44300 tube has a minimum tensile strength of 310 MPa (45 ksi), minimum yield strength of 105 MPa (15 ksi), and elongation of at least 40%. Hard tempers raise tensile strength toward 500-600 MPa.
Choose C44300 when the dominant threat is chemical attack - polluted, sulfide-bearing, stagnant, or brackish water - where its tin-arsenic system handles dezincification. Choose C68700 when cooling-water velocity is high and impingement or erosion is the failure mode (clean, high-velocity seawater). Tube wall thickness and velocity must still match the design.
Linsy supplies C44300 to ASTM B111 / B395 on a made-to-order basis; standard production lead time is 10-60 days depending on temper, size, and quantity, with low minimum order quantities for custom runs. Every order ships with an MTR / MTC, and SGS reports are available on request. RoHS and REACH documentation can be provided, and quotes are typically returned within 1 hour with responses within 24 hours.
