SPEC STANDARD
C35300 high-leaded brass (EN CuZn37Pb2) is a free-machining copper-zinc-lead alloy with 1.5–2.5% lead and 26% IACS conductivity, used for screw-machine parts, gears, and engraving stock. Supplied to ASTM B453.

Product Overview

C35300 High-Leaded Brass (EN CuZn37Pb2, CW606N) is a copper-zinc-lead alloy with 1.5–2.5% lead for free machining, covered by ASTM B453 for rod, bar, and shapes. It sits between free-cutting brass C36000 and forging brass C37700, balancing good machinability (rating 90) with enough formability for knurling, thread rolling, and light cold work.

Typical uses are screw-machine products, gears and pinions, instrument and engraving plates, valve stems, and lock hardware where high-volume turning and threading dominate. C35300 solders excellently and brazes well, but arc and gas welding are not recommended, so parts are usually joined by brazing or mechanical assembly. Tempers run from soft anneal (O60) through H01, H02, to H04 hard.

Linsy Copper supplies C35300 leaded brass rod, bar, and shapes to ASTM B453, with low-MOQ custom sizes for non-stock requirements (typical lead time 10–60 days). Every order ships with an MTR/MTC documenting grade, chemistry, and mechanical results, and optional SGS testing is available on request. In-house CNC machining and surface finishing support direct production from raw bar to finished turned and plated parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about C35300 leaded brass specifications, machinability, comparison, and supply.

It is used where free machining and moderate formability both matter: screw-machine products, gears and pinions, instrument and engraving plates, valve stems, lock hardware, and plumbing fixtures. The lead addition keeps high-volume turning and threading fast and clean.
The primary specification for rod, bar, and shapes is ASTM B453. Flat products (plate, sheet, strip) are covered by ASTM B121. Linsy Copper matches the applicable ASTM form to the customer's drawing and requirement.
C35300 carries a machinability rating of 90 on the scale where free-cutting brass C36000 equals 100. It offers nearly the cutting speed of C36000 while keeping enough formability for knurling and thread rolling, which C36000 handles less well.
C35300 bridges the gap: it is more formable and slightly less machineable than C36000 free-cutting brass, and more machineable but less forgeable than C37700 forging brass. Choose it when you need both good cutting and light cold forming.
Soldering is excellent and brazing is good, but gas and arc welding are not recommended, so parts are typically joined by brazing or mechanical assembly. Linsy Copper supplies it to ASTM B453 with low-MOQ custom sizes (lead time typically 10–60 days), an MTR/MTC per order, and optional SGS testing on request.
