SPEC STD
C27000 yellow brass, also known as 65/35 brass, is a copper-zinc alloy containing 63.0–68.5% copper supplied as sheet, strip, and plate under ASTM B36. It combines excellent cold formability with a bright golden finish, making it ideal for architectural hardware, decorative trim, electronics, and deep-drawn components.

Product Overview

C27000 yellow brass, commonly referred to as 65/35 brass, is a copper-zinc alloy containing 63.0–68.5% copper with zinc as the balance. It is manufactured to ASTM B36 standards for sheet, strip, and plate requiring good formability, moderate strength, and an attractive golden-yellow appearance.

Produced through rolling and cold-working, C27000 delivers tensile strength from about 300 MPa in the annealed condition up to 600 MPa in hard tempers, retaining good ductility for deep drawing and complex forming. Its alpha-phase microstructure provides excellent cold formability, reliable corrosion resistance in atmospheric and freshwater service, and a clean surface suited to polishing, plating, or coating.

C27000 is widely used in architectural and decorative hardware, electronics connectors, automotive thermal systems, and plumbing fittings where formability and appearance matter. Linsy Copper supplies C27000 yellow brass sheet and strip to ASTM B36, with low-MOQ custom production (typical lead time 10–60 days), in-house laser cutting, stamping, and surface finishing, an MTR/MTC for every order, and optional SGS testing on request. Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about C27000 yellow brass specifications, applications, and ordering.

C27000 (65/35 brass, CuZn35) is supplied as sheet, strip, and plate under ASTM B36. Its combination of cold formability, moderate strength, and bright golden finish makes it ideal for architectural and decorative hardware, electronics connectors and terminals, automotive radiator cores, and light plumbing fittings.
C26000 (cartridge brass) contains 68.5–71.5% copper versus C27000's 63.0–68.5%, giving C26000 slightly higher ductility and formability plus a bit more conductivity. C27000 trades some formability for lower material cost and marginally higher strength, which is often preferred for high-volume stamped and decorative parts.
Yes. C27000 has an alpha-phase microstructure with excellent cold formability, making it well suited to deep drawing, bending, and complex stamping such as cartridge cases, precision stampings, and decorative shells. Annealing between operations restores ductility.
C27000 solders and brazes well and is compatible with TIG and resistance welding; oxyacetylene welding is not recommended because zinc vaporizes at high heat. Machinability is moderate (about 30% of free-cutting brass), producing a fine surface finish in softer tempers.
C27000 is supplied as sheet and strip per ASTM B36, typically 0.01–6.0 mm thick and up to 600 mm wide, plus rod, wire, and tube on request. Custom thicknesses, tempers, and widths are available with minimum order quantities.
