Product Overview

C26000 brass, commonly referred to as Cartridge Brass, is a copper-zinc alloy containing approximately 70% copper with excellent ductility and cold forming performance. It is manufactured to ASTM B36, ASTM B134, and related standards for applications requiring reliable fabrication and corrosion resistance.

Produced through precision casting, rolling, and drawing processes, C26000 brass offers excellent deep drawing capability, good mechanical strength, and attractive surface appearance. Its balanced mechanical and conductive properties make it suitable for both engineering and decorative applications.

C26000 brass is extensively used in ammunition casings, radiator components, electrical connectors, decorative hardware, and industrial stamping parts where formability and durability are essential. It is widely applied across automotive, electronics, HVAC, construction, and general engineering industries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about C26000 cartridge brass from engineers and sourcing teams.

C26000 is a 70/30 wrought brass (Cu 68.5-71.5%, Zn remainder, Pb <=0.07%, Fe <=0.05%) covered by ASTM B36/B19. It is named cartridge brass because its outstanding deep-drawability lets it form ammunition cases without cracking; the same property drives its use in stampings, radiator cores, and electrical connectors.
In the annealed (O60) condition tensile strength is about 325-410 MPa with elongation up to 65%. Cold work raises strength sharply: H04 (hard) reaches roughly 485-585 MPa. Yield scales with temper, so select the temper against your forming-versus-strength requirement.
C26000 has the highest copper (~70%) of the three, giving the best ductility and about 28% IACS conductivity. C26800 (66/34) and C27200 (65/35) trade a little copper for lower cost and slightly higher strength, with similar formability. Choose C26000 when deep drawing or conductivity matters most.
C26000 brazes and solders readily and takes all mechanical joins; it is not recommended for hot working. Machinability is modest (about 30 vs C36000 = 100), so plan for sharp tools and lubrication. For critical welds, control heat input to avoid zinc loss.
Linsy Copper supplies C26000 to ASTM B36/B19 (and ASTM B135 for seamless tube) on request, with mill test reports (MTR/MTC) per order and SGS reports available on request. Material is RoHS/REACH compliant. Low-MOQ custom sizes and tempers are supported, with quotes returned within about 1 hour and typical lead times of 10-60 days.
