Product Overview

C21000 brass is a high-copper brass alloy containing approximately 95% copper with a small addition of zinc for improved strength and formability. It is manufactured to ASTM B36, ASTM B134, and related standards for applications requiring excellent cold working performance and attractive surface appearance.

Produced through rolling, drawing, and annealing processes, C21000 brass offers outstanding ductility, smooth surface quality, and reliable corrosion resistance. Its balanced mechanical and conductive properties make it highly suitable for deep drawing and precision forming applications.

C21000 brass is extensively used in bullet jackets, decorative panels, electrical hardware, radiator components, and industrial stamped parts where appearance and formability are essential. It is widely applied across defense, electronics, architecture, HVAC, and precision manufacturing industries.

Frequently Asked Questions About C21000 Gilding Metal

Practical engineering answers on C21000 (95/5 gilding metal): composition, formability, electrical properties, standards and sourcing.

C21000, also called 95/5 gilding metal, is the highest-copper wrought brass with 94.0-96.0% Cu and Zn balance (about 5%), plus Pb and Fe each capped at 0.05%. Its copper-rich composition gives it a red-gold color very close to pure copper while adding strength and formability over C11000 ETP copper.
In the annealed (O60) temper tensile strength is about 235-276 MPa; in the hard (H04) temper it reaches roughly 345-407 MPa. Elongation is up to 50% annealed. Electrical conductivity is about 56% IACS - well below pure copper (about 100% IACS) but adequate for non-critical electrical and decorative uses.
C21000 has the best formability of any copper alloy (formability rated 100) and the highest thermal conductivity among wrought brasses. It bends and coins extremely sharply without cracking, which is why it is the standard material for medals, medallions, ammunition components, jewelry and enameling substrates.
C21000 is covered by ASTM B36/B36M for sheet, strip and rolled bar, B134 for wire, B587 for welded tube and B927 for rod and shapes. The EN equivalent is CuZn5 (CW500L); Japanese is C2100; Chinese GB is H95. Tempers run from soft annealed through H02/H04/H06/H08.
Yes. Linsy Copper supplies C21000 sheet, strip, wire and rod to ASTM B36/B134 with mill test reports (MTR/MTC) on every order and SGS documentation on request. Typical lead times are 10-60 days, minimum order quantities are low, and custom tempers or widths can be quoted with a response within 24 hours - RoHS and REACH compliant.
