C17300 beryllium copper, also known as leaded or free-machining beryllium copper (CuBe2Pb), is the lead-bearing version of C17200 supplied as rod, bar, and tube under ASTM B196. It reaches the same exceptional strength after hardening while cutting far more cleanly, making it ideal for screw-machine parts, connectors, springs, and precision components.

Product Overview

C17300 is a leaded beryllium copper whose strength comes from 1.80–2.00% beryllium with a small 0.20–0.60% lead addition for free machining. It is chemically the leaded counterpart of C17200 and reaches the same peak strength after precipitation hardening, but the lead forms finely divided chips that extend tool life on automatic screw machines. It is produced to ASTM B196 (rod, bar, tube), ASTM B197 (wire), and ASTM B194 (plate), and is classified RWMA Class 3.

In the TH04 (peak-aged) condition C17300 reaches 1130–1590 MPa tensile strength, yield above 1035 MPa, hardness of 36–45 HRC, and 18–25% IACS conductivity. It combines tool-steel strength with non-magnetic, non-sparking behavior, good fatigue resistance, and corrosion resistance close to pure copper. Machinability is much better than C17200 (about 20% of free-cutting brass versus single digits for the unleaded grade), making it the default choice for high-volume turned parts.

Linsy Copper supplies C17300 beryllium copper as rod, bar, and tube with low-MOQ custom sizes (typical lead time 10–60 days), in-house CNC machining and surface finishing, an MTR/MTC for every order, and optional SGS testing on request. Contact our Shenzhen team for a quotation within one hour.

C17300 is the leaded, free-machining version of C17200. Both reach the same peak-aged strength (1130–1590 MPa), but C17300's 0.20–0.60% lead produces short chips and much better screw-machine output. Use C17300 for high-volume turned parts; use C17200 when you must avoid lead.
C17300 machines at about 20% of free-cutting brass (C36000 = 100), well above the single-digit rating of unleaded C17200. The lead addition is what enables clean, automatic machining of precision components.
Yes. It is supplied in tempers such as TD04 (solution + cold work) and TH04 (peak aged). Peak aging after solution treatment delivers the 1130–1590 MPa strength; no further field treatment is needed on TF00/TH04 stock.
ASTM B196 covers rod, bar, and tube; ASTM B197 covers wire; and ASTM B194 covers plate. It is also classified RWMA Class 3. The values quoted here follow ASTM B196 in the TH04 temper.
Linsy Copper supplies C17300 beryllium copper at low MOQ with a typical lead time of 10–60 days, ships an MTR/MTC with every order, and offers optional SGS testing on request.
