Product Overview

C17200 beryllium copper, also known as Alloy 172, is one of the most widely used copper-beryllium alloys. With approximately 2% beryllium content, it achieves an excellent combination of high strength, hardness, electrical conductivity, and corrosion resistance through age-hardening treatment.

Compared with conventional copper alloys, C17200 provides significantly higher mechanical strength while maintaining good electrical and thermal conductivity. Its outstanding fatigue resistance, wear resistance, and dimensional stability make it suitable for demanding precision applications.

C17200 beryllium copper is widely used in electrical connectors, relay components, springs, switches, molds, welding electrodes, aerospace components, and non-sparking tools where high reliability and long service life are required.

FAQ — C17200 Beryllium Copper

Common engineering questions on C17200 beryllium copper: composition, standards, properties and supply.

C17200, also called Alloy 25 or CuBe2, contains 1.8–2.0% beryllium with cobalt+nickel at least 0.20%. It is the highest-strength copper alloy and is used where strength, fatigue life and conductivity must combine.
C17200 is covered by ASTM B194 (strip/plate), B196 (rod/bar) and B197 (wire). Tempers run from solution-annealed (TB00) through mill-hardened (TDxx) to age-hardened (TF00/TH04).
Age-hardened tempers reach about 1160–1550 MPa tensile strength with 22–28% IACS conductivity — roughly 10× the strength of pure copper while retaining useful conductivity. Solution-annealed stock is soft and formable before aging.
Springs, connectors, switch blades, bearings, non-sparking tools, weld fixtures and precision molds. Its non-magnetic nature and fatigue resistance suit electromechanical and aerospace parts.
Linsy Copper supplies C17200 beryllium copper against ASTM specs with per-order MTR/MTC, SGS on request, RoHS/REACH compliance, low-MOQ custom production and a 10–60 day lead time, with quote response within 1 hour.
