C16200 copper, commonly referred to as cadmium copper or cadmium bronze, is a lightly alloyed high-copper grade containing 0.7–1.2% cadmium with copper as the balance. It is manufactured to ASTM B441 (rod and bar) and ASTM B534 (wire) for applications requiring high electrical conductivity combined with resistance to softening at service temperatures.
Produced through conventional wrought processing, C16200 cadmium copper reaches electrical conductivity of about 90% IACS while maintaining tensile strength up to 550 MPa in the hard temper. Its key advantage is strength retention at elevated temperatures, where pure copper would anneal and deform. The alloy machines fairly, solders and brazes well, and is widely used for resistance-welding electrodes, current-carrying springs, and switchgear contacts. Note that cadmium is a regulated substance under REACH; confirm local environmental compliance before specifying it for consumer or potable-water applications.
Linsy Copper supplies C16200 cadmium copper bar, rod, and wire to ASTM B441, with low-MOQ custom production (typical lead time 10–60 days), an MTR/MTC for every order, and optional SGS testing on request. Contact our Shenzhen team for a quotation within one hour and to discuss cadmium-handling compliance for your project.
